A chiropractor website template, and what chiropractic website templates leave out

Updated

A chiropractor website template gives a practice a finished-looking site in an afternoon, and most chiropractic website templates are missing the three things a new patient is looking for: what conditions the practice treats and how, what the first visit involves and costs, and whether their insurance is accepted. The template supplies the layout; the practice has to supply those answers and a form that handles health information properly. This page sets out what the template must carry, what to add to it, and how to cost the template route against a practice marketing company's proposal.

What the template supplies and what it does not

A template supplies the structure: a home page with a booking button, a services list, a team page, a contact page with a map, a blog nobody will write. It does not supply the conditions pages, which are what a patient with back pain or a headache searches for and reads; the new patient page that explains the first visit, the examination and what it costs; or the insurance page listing the plans accepted. Those pages are the practice's to write, and the hours to write them are the real cost of the template route.

The form and the privacy rule

A new patient form on a chiropractic site collects a health history, and a practice that transmits health information electronically is covered by the federal health privacy rule. The form has to go over a secure connection into a system whose vendor will sign a business associate agreement. Most templates ship with a contact form that emails plain text to the front desk, which is fine for enquiries and not for a health history. Budget a patient forms vendor as a feature line and embed it, rather than adapting the template's form.

Costing the template route

On the website cost calculator, a practice site is ten to twelve pages: home, new patients, six or so conditions and services pages, team, insurance, contact and the legal pages. The template makes the hours per page low for the structural pages and the conditions pages are where the hours go. Content is the practice's own photographs and the chiropractor's own words. The feature line is the forms vendor and online booking; the monthly line is the builder's plan plus those. That is the template route's cost, and a practice marketing company's quote several times higher is mostly advertising.

Questions people ask about chiropractor website template

Are chiropractic-specific templates better than general ones?

They start with the right page names, which saves an hour. They do not contain the conditions pages, the new patient page or the insurance page, which is where the work and the value are.

Should the site list the insurance plans accepted?

Yes, on its own page. It is one of the first questions a new patient has and a site that answers it gets the booking that a site that does not sends to the phone.

Can we use the template's contact form for the patient intake?

For a name and a phone number, yes. For a health history, no, unless the form vendor will sign a business associate agreement and the data is stored securely, which template contact forms generally do not offer.
